Rhubarb Update June 2018:
Rhubarb will be coming to an end early this year due to the extremely high temps we have had. 95º-100º in May is unheard of in our area. Rhubarb tends to get tough as soon as the weather gets hot, so come and get it early – before June 15 – for best flavor.
Rhubarb is extremely high in natural calcium. If you don’t care for the sourness of rhubarb, try adding sweeter fruits to it such as blueberries, peaches or apples in pies and desserts. Every serving of rhubarb provides 45% of the daily value in vitamin K, which supports healthy bone growth and can limit neuronal damage in the brain, even to the point of Alzheimer’s prevention.
